There was a fantastic crowd at the first day of the Oakbank Racing Carnival, although as always a jumps racing meeting can’t be covered by the media without it being surrounded in doom and gloom. Rather than celebrate the great day’s racing, instead there was too much focus on the sport’s uncertain future—a future that is indeed made uncertain by just such coverage.
