Jumps Racing to Continue in South Australia

The South Australian Parliament Select Committee on Jumps Racing handed down its final report on 30 November 2016.

The key message is that jumps racing is not going to be banned in South Australia.

There are several other important recommendations in the report that are very good news for jumps racing here in S.A. Most notably, these include the following:

  1. The Committee found that jumps racing in S.A. should not be banned but that its continuation should be conditional on the industry meeting the broad areas for improvement outlined in the recommendations, over the next three years.
  2. It is a key recommendation of the Committee that the matter of whether to ban jumps racing in S.A. should not be revisited by Parliament for the next three years, to allow the industry to undertake further improvements against the Committee’s proposed recommendations.
